Apps Like Instagram

Given that millions of iPhones and iPads (as well as the new iPod Touch) have cameras, it’s not surprising that some of the most popular apps in the app store (excepting games) help people deal with all the photos they take. Apps like Instagram, which lets users apply creative filters to their mobile photos and then share them with friends, can fly to the top of the charts with the right marketing. Although it’s one of the most well-know among iOS owners, there are other apps like Instagram that are also worth taking a look at. Here are a few Instagram alternatives that you might enjoy.

Path is an Instagram alternative that takes a different approach. Rather than sharing your photos and videos with the general public, the Path app lets you share with groups of up to 50 friends and family members. The sharing is done via other iOS devices, email or Facebook. The app lets you see who views your photos and videos, and lets your friends and family chat with you or post comments about your photos and videos.

Snapbucket is quite similar to Instagram in that there are a number of different filters that you can use to style your photos (such as “Retro,” “Lomo” and “Sunrise”) before uploading them to share via your Facebook, Twitter and Photobucket albums. Lastly, Fotobook for Facebook is an app that takes things in the other direction. Lets you take the photos from your (and your friends’) Facebook accounts and save them directly to your iOS device.
